Who we are
This policy explains how Gio Soft Nigeria Ltd. ("giosoft", "we") handles personal data collected through this website. We are the data controller for that data.
What we collect
- Details you send through the contact form: your name, company, email address, phone number, what you are interested in and your message.
- Emails you send us directly.
- Basic technical data needed to run the site securely, such as your IP address and browser type, kept in server logs.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and discuss how we can help (our legitimate interest, or steps before a contract at your request).
- To keep the website secure and prevent spam and abuse (our legitimate interest).
- To meet legal obligations, for example tax and accounting records once you become a client.
Cookies and visit statistics
The public website uses only cookies needed for it to work, such as a security token for the contact form.
We count visits with our own privacy-friendly statistics. They use no cookies and store nothing on your device. To tell visits apart for one day, we combine your IP address and browser type with a random value that is deleted every day; the IP address itself is never stored, and the result can't identify you or link your visits across days. We keep the totals (pages viewed, where visitors came from, device type and country) for up to 13 months. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, your visit is not counted.
If we use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager or other marketing tools, they only load after you accept them in the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of each page.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the business, such as our email and hosting providers, under agreements that protect it, and with authorities where the law requires. Some providers may process data outside Nigeria; where they do, we rely on the safeguards the Nigeria Data Protection Act allows.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for as long as we need them to respond and follow up, and for up to two years afterwards unless you become a client. Client records are kept for as long as the law requires.
Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for a copy in a portable format. Email us to make a request; we will reply within the time the law allows. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
